👀 WHY DO WE PLAY PEEKABOO? 👀

Every week in the Dreamers and Explorers classes we play a game of peekaboo with the babies ✨

When we play peekaboo we are:
🧡 Teaching babies object permanence - the understanding that people and objects still exist when hidden
🧡 Supporting emotional regulation by helping babies experience and manage emotions such as surprise, anticipation and joy
🧡 Building trust and secure bonds with caregivers
🧡 Stimulating brain development to help with memory, attention and prediction
🧡 Enhancing social and communication skills by encouraging eye contact, turn taking and imitative play
🧡 Working on visual tracking and motor skills

My little man is poorly today so I’m very sorry to say that there will be no classes in Sutton today (10th February)

🦚 WHY DO THE CLASSES ALL START AND END THE SAME WAY? 🦚

Every week, each class has the same beginning and end, with the theme in the middle changing each time ✨

By having this structure and routine to the classes we are:
💚 Creating security and helping the little ones to feel safe and comfortable
💚 Reducing stress and overwhelm as the little ones know what to expect
💚 Developing cognitive skills by helping the little ones understand sequencing, cause and effect and time
💚 Encouraging independence and self-regulation with the sense of autonomy that comes with being able to anticipate what comes next

🎬 BEHIND THE SCENES - PROPS 🎬

Once I have decided on the theme and the story, I’m spending my time deciding which props to buy to make my ideas come to life! ✨

This is actually so much more time consuming than I ever imagined! Not only am I looking for props that match the idea in my head, but of course I need to make sure they’re suitable for babies and children too 🥰 *

A few times already I’ve ordered things that look fabulous but aren’t quite what I had in mind so I’ve had to send them back and start all over again 🤪

Luckily my 5 year old gets very excited to help me open all the packages that get delivered ❤️

* I am making sure everything is suitable, but I do always ask that you’re supervising your little ones with the props at all times 🙏

🎬 BEHIND THE SCENES - PLANNING 🎬

Last week I mentioned what goes on behind the scenes to make Little Peacocks happen 🦚
I thought I’d break it all down and talk a bit more about each part 💫

The planning process began with lots of research into the Early Years, and digging out all my university notes on child development 🧠
I carefully thought through how I wanted the beginning of each class to look, and this stays the same each week ✨

Now I’m focusing on planning the themes! Each week I’m thinking about the stories and the props we need for the upcoming themes, as well as putting together the playlists and writing myself scripts 🎶

My aim is to have a different theme every week for a year 🤞🏼
So far we’ve had 10 themes and I’m really proud of them all! 😃

🎵 WHY DO WE SING? 🎵

Every week we sing to the little ones in all three classes 🎶

Singing to babies and children has so many developmental benefits!
When we sing we are:
🖤 Aiding language development by teaching rhythm and intonation
🖤 Supporting brain development and foundational learning
🖤 Boosting our mood and helping to manage emotions
🖤 Creating a routine by singing the same songs each week so that the little ones know what’s coming next

There is SO much that goes into creating the classes for you all to enjoy! 💫

From planning the sessions from scratch, to cleaning and sorting all the props, to then arriving at the venues and setting everything up, I think I could do with at least twenty more hours in a day 🤣

If you’re unable to make your class, I will always try to be as flexible as I can 😘

We can find another class for you to come along to on a different day, or you can gift your space to a friend 🎁

I offer two booking options to try to be as flexible as possible! I know that life is hectic with little ones, so you can either secure a term space or book week by week ✨

🩵 TERM BOOKING 🩵
This is a great option if you’re looking to get into a routine and join me every week ☺️
Term bookings work out slightly cheaper at £8.50 per class and guarantee your spot for the whole term 💫
You can have a maximum of two planned absences per term if you know in advance there are a couple of weeks you can’t do ☺️

💜 PAY AS YOU GO 💜
If you can’t commit to every week, or want to come and try a class before booking the block, this is the option for you! ☺️
Pay As You Go spaces get released every Saturday for the coming week, and are £9 per class 💫

Language and communication are SO important in the early years!
By focusing on a new word each week we are:

💛 Supporting overall brain growth and understanding
💛 Underpinning all other areas of development in the EYFS framework
